About the CVFD

The Christiana Volunteer was formed in 1975 with the late Russell Fox as acting chief. Tony Snook joined the department soon after and eventually became chief. A title he held for over sixteen years.

The CVFD along with Lascassas Volunteer Fire Department and Rutherford Volunteer Fire Department were the first three departments to become members of the Rutherford County Fire Chief's Association which was chaired by John Wiseman.

Tony Snook retired as chief in December 2005 and Leslie Herman took the helm. Tony is still around helping when we need it and Leslie is still chief.

Through the leadership and dedication of these men and the rest of the members we have grown and lowered our ISO ratings from a Class 9 to a Class 6. We are lucky to have good equipment and equipment and all of our firefighters are well trained and well equipped.

We look forward to evolving as our great community grows and we will work very hard to effectively and efficiently serve Christiana and the surrounding areas when we are needed..
